ABOUT HERVEY BAY HUMPBACK WHALES
From mid July to the end of October the calm waters of Hervey Bay and K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) become a sanctuary for the most magnificent and beautiful humpback whales. Every year the whales return to Hervey Bay; one of the worlds most exclusive whale watching destinations.
Most of the whales you will see on our whale watching tour are 10 to 13 metres in length and 30 tonnes or more, that’s over 5 times the boats weight. So when you see a whale with Blue Dolphin, you will really see a whale!
MEET YOUR WHALE WATCHING SKIPPER
Peter Lynch
Your Skipper Pete has over 39 years experience with marine mammals. Over the years Pete has been involved with the rescue and rehabilitation of many stranded marine mammals both here in Australia and overseas. You can rest assured that your whale watching day will be very informative thanks to Pete’s wealth of experience and knowledge. He welcomes all your questions so please be sure to ask.

WHAT TO BRING WHALE WATCHING
-
Camera
Don't forget to capture your incredible whale watching moments (and tag us)!
-
Hat
Having a hat with a wide brim will help shade you from the Queensland sun.
-
Sunglasses
There can be a bit of glare out on the water, so a pair of sunglasses will help you see the whales better.
-
Jacket
Bring a jacket as the wind can get a little chilly as we sail to the whales.
-
Sensible Non-Slip Shoes
Please avoid wearing black soled shoes as these mark the deck or you can take them off when you are on board.
