Half day (November - July)

Dolphin Watching Tour

With over 40 years experience in the field, we provide an insider’s guide to one of the friendliest marine mammals in Queensland’s waters; dolphins. Aboard a comfortable multi award-winning sailing vessel we will take you right to the spot where the dolphins are; enabling you to watch pods of the bottlenose dolphins (aduncas) and Australian Humpback dolphins (Sousa sahulensis),  as they play along the coast of the Great Sandy Strait. These magnificent marine creatures will take your breath away as you get up close and personal with them in their own environment, creating a memory that will last a lifetime.

Our Dolphin Eco Adventure has been operating for over 25 years with a 95% success rate in finding dolphins each time! The tour lasts approximately four hours and morning tea is provided.

In the summer, weather permitting, there is often the opportunity to take a swim near one of the shallow sand banks as well as enjoy our aqua mat and boom netting for an immersive water experience like no other.

Our Dolphin Eco Adventures operate from late October to very early July.

In addition to finding dolphins on our tour, you may also spot turtlesdugongsseabirds and other marine life. That’s Queensland for you!

ABOUT DOLPHINS

Dolphins are often regarded as one of Earth’s most intelligent animals, demonstrating social behaviour and a display of culture similar to humans. Witnessing them in their domain offers a unique insight into their underwater world, beautiful and graceful as they are. Bottlenose dolphins are the better known of the two species – their back is dark grey whilst their belly is a lighter grey or white with grey spots.

We know more than 25 individual wild dolphins in the Hervey Bay area which we recognise by their dorsal fins. We like to think of them as part of the Blue Dolphin family! The Australian Humpback dolphin is a little smaller than the Bottlenose dolphin and is characterised by the conspicuous hump and rectangular shaped fin found on its back. Adults are an off-white colour from their tail to snout, their flanks are a dark grey and their stomachs a lighter shade of grey.
